The BJP has declared A Venkata Narayan Reddy as its candidate for the elections in the Mahbubnagar-Rangareddy-Hyderabad teachers’ constituency in the Telangana Legislative Council election, to be held on 13 March.

It has also announced Sannareddy Dayakar Reddy, Nagaruru Raghavendra, and PVN Madhav as candidates for Prakasam-Nellore-Chittoor, Kadapa-Anantapur-Kurnool, and Srikakulam-Vizianagaram-Visakhapatnam graduates’ constituencies, respectively, in Andhra Pradesh.

Since the tenure of the existing candidate K Janardhan Reddy from the Mahbubnagar-Rangareddy-Hyderabad teachers’ constituency will expire on 29 March, the election will be completed by 21 March.

The counting of the votes will be held on 16 March.

Candidates’ list

The BJP has announced the candidates’ names after discussing them in detail with the state unit presidents in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar gave his feedback to the party’s central leadership about Venkata Narayan Reddy’s selection, after which the name was declared officially.

Meanwhile, Bandi Sanjay reacted sharply to the comments made by Congress MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, who courted controversy after he predicted a hung Assembly after the year-end elections and said that the Congress and the BRS would have to join hands to form the next government.

Venkat Reddy, however, subsequently retracted his comments.

When two become one

“The Congress has exited the election field in the state,” Bandi Sanjay said.

He added that while any party would say that it would come to power in the election, Congress leaders were saying that their party would lose the elections.

“When they know that their party will lose their elections, why are the Congress leaders taking out padayatras?” he asked.

He also found fault with the statement that the Congress and the BRS would contest the elections separately and later join hands to form the government.

“It’s nothing but deceiving people of the state,” Bandi Sanjay said.

The people in Telangana would certainly support the BJP on seeing the honesty of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he added.

Bandi Sanjay exuded confidence that the BJP would win 119 Assembly seats in the state in the next elections.
