End to speculation

Revanth Reddy was in Delhi finalising the list on Wednesday, taking into account the seniority, caste, and district-wise composition of his Cabinet.

Several top leader of the Telangana Congress were also in Delhi pressing their case, once it was formally announced by party General Secretary (Organisation) KC Venugopal that Revanth Reddy would be the chief minister.

The old guard — Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, N Uttam Kumar Reddy, and Komatireddy Venkata Reddy — who were competing with Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Revanth Reddy for the coveted post of chief minister, grudgingly consented to his coronation but not without fighting for their pound of flesh.

Revantha Reddy now still has six slots that he can fill in the coming days to accommodate those still seeking the wages of victory.

The Telangana Cabinet can have 18 ministers, including the chief minister.
