Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Friday, 24 March, skipped appearing before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) in connection with the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) question paper leak case.

He said he had to attend the ongoing Parliament session in New Delhi.

He added that he would share the evidence related to the case only if it was probed by a sitting judge and not by the SIT.

The SITs set up by the Telangana government in other sensational cases, including that of slain gangster Nayeemudin, failed to come to a logical conclusion, he said.

The TSPSC paper leak case SIT issued a notice to him for his remarks that several candidates from two villages in the erstwhile Karimnagar district secured more than 100 with the leaked question paper, and asked him to furnish evidence.

Sanjay takes on KCR again

Referring to Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s statement that the Centre had not extended any financial assistance to the farmers of the state, Sanjay said it was KCR who denied assistance to farmers.

In 2016-17, the Centre released ₹916 crore as financial assistance to Telangana farmers, but the BRS government did not spend even ₹700 crore out of it, he said.

“The chief minister has not been sending any reports to the Centre seeking fresh financial assistance for calamity-hit farmers because he is afraid that the Centre would ask for the accounts for previous assistance,” he said.

Sanjay added that the Telangana government had not implemented the promise of supplying free urea to the farmers, nor had KCR fulfilled his crop loan waiver promise.

The Telangana BJP chief also said KCR’s claim of paying compensation to the farmers affected by unseasonal rains entirely from the state government’s resources was a blatant lie.

“The GO (Government Order) released by the state government clearly stated that the assistance was from the State Disaster Relief Fund, 75 percent of whose burden is borne by the Centre. Why has Chandrashekhar Rao not disclosed this?” he asked.
