Synopsis: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar accused BRS of running a “false campaign” over the POCSO case against his son. He said he cooperated with police, denied obstructing the probe, dismissed speculation of a new party, and reiterated loyalty to BJP while attacking BRS’s “family rule.”

Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Wednesday accused the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leadership of running a “false and poisonous campaign” against him in connection with the POCSO case registered against his son, Bageerath, while claiming that he had fully cooperated with the police investigation.

Bandi Sanjay also blamed sections of the media and social media, alleging that they were working against him at the behest of BRS.

Addressing the media at the BJP state office in Hyderabad, Sanjay said he had ‘personally handed over’ his son to the police when they sought cooperation in the investigation.

“Is there a case where a father directly handed over his son to the police? I acted with the belief that everyone is equal before the law,” he said.

Denies obstructing probe

Rejecting allegations that he had attempted to obstruct the investigation or delay action in the case, the Union Minister alleged that BRS supporters were spreading misinformation through social media and sections of the media to defame him and BJP.

Sanjay also dismissed speculation that he was planning to float a new political party, describing such reports as baseless propaganda. “There is no need to respond to such campaigns,” he said, while reiterating his commitment to BJP and its ideology.

Referring to the emotional attachment of party workers to BJP, he remarked that many of them wished for the saffron flag to be draped over their bodies after death. “That is my last wish too,” he said.

The Union Minister also targeted BRS leadership, saying the people of Telangana had rejected “family rule” and corruption. He alleged that the BRS leadership was frustrated over losing power in the state.
