YS Sharmila President rule Telangana

YSRTP president YS Sharmila on Wednesday, 22 February, demanded the imposition of President’s rule in Telangana in the wake of what she said was a deteriorating law-and-order situation in the state.

The YSRTP leader made the demand after visiting Thota Pavan, a youth Congress leader who was injured in an attack in Warangal, allegedly by BRS workers, during the “Hath Se Hath Jodo Yatra” of Telangana Congress president A Revanth Reddy.

Sharmila, who was recently arrested again by the Telangana police while she was on her padayatra, has been on an offensive against the BRS government in the state.

After commiserating with Pavan and his family members at the hospital — where he is under treatment — in Hyderabad, she told reporters that she would soon meet Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan and request her to recommend the Centre to impose President’s rule.

‘Rowdies ruling Telangana’

She said that rowdies were in power in Telangana. The police were only a BRS-friendly force, ready to pounce on the Opposition whenever it criticised the state government, she added.

“Is it fair for the BRS workers to attack us even for questioning you? Thrashing someone with iron rods until one’s face is disfigured? Are the BRS cadres goondas or human beings or animals?” she asked

YS Sharmila said the curse of Pavan’s mother would haunt Chief Minister and BRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao.

“The doctors said it will take at least six months for him to recover, and I can understand her agony,” she said.

She also said the BRS knew only to attack the Opposition parties when criticised.

“The BRS activists attacked my padayatra at Huzurnagar, Dharmapuri, Narsampet, and Mahabubabad. They are throwing stones at us. They are targeting the Opposition parties,” she said, demanding that KCR tender an apology over the attack on Pavan.

She also said the police should not act as though they were there only to serve the BRS.

“I am warning the police. You should be on the side of the people,” she said, daring the cops to arrest those who attacked Pavan if they were really doing their job and not masquerading as law enforcement.
