Party workers raised slogans against the Election Commission and BJP leaders as the police halted the march. Several Congress and Left leaders were subsequently taken into custody.

The protest came a day after fierce protests by the Opposition MPs, led by the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, in Delhi.
