A police inspector from the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) at the Central Crime Station (CCS), Detective Department, Hyderabad City, was on Thursday, 13 June, caught by the Anti-Corruption Bureau while allegedly taking a bribe of ₹3 lakh.
Inspector Chamakuri Sudhakar was caught by the ACB while demanding ₹5 lakh bribe and accepting an amount of ₹3 lakh from the complainant, Mani Ranga Swamy, a resident of Old Bowenpally, Secunderabad to do an official favour, an ACB release said.
The official favour was “to help the complainant in the investigation of a case registered against him at CCS and also for disposal of the case in his favour,” the ACB said.

The bribe amount was recovered from Sudhakar’s shoulder bag, which tested positive in a chemical test, the ACB said adding that the accused officer “performed his public duty improperly and dishonestly.”
After noticing ACB staff, the officer left the bag and started running. The ACB officials chased him and caught him, the release said. The inspector had initially demanded ₹15 lakh, the release said.
Sudhakar has been arrested and he will be produced before the Principal Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases at the Nampally Court in Hyderabad.
The case is under investigation.
