Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Telangana on 11 February to attend the Parliament Awas Yojana programme.

Meanwhile, BJP national president JP Nadda is likely to visit Telangana by month-end, while a visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has once again been postponed.

As part of his schedule to Telangana, Shah is expected to visit Adilabad, Peddapalli, Mahbubnagar, and Nagarkurnool and address the BJP cadre.

Sources said the Union home minister was expected to meet several eminent personalities in Telangana during his tour, and collect their feedback, besides interacting with the senior leaders from the party.

He is likely to inquire about the status of those who were willing to join the party and contest elections.

The joinings into the BJP apparently slowed down for a few weeks due to various reasons.

A few days ago, former minister and BJP MLA Eatala Rajender said several leaders who were willing to join the BJP were hesitating because of covert operatives in the party.

When this was brought to his notice recently, Telangana Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar said there were no covert operatives in the party, as claimed by Rajender. “I don’t think he made any such statement,” he said.

Shah’s agenda

Meanwhile, Shah is also expected to prepare a roadmap for the party to gear up for the Assembly elections in Telangana.

He chose senior leader Sunil Bansal as in-charge of Telangana in addition to another in-charge — Tarun Chugh — to implement the Uttar Pradesh strategy in the southern state and win the maximum number of Assembly seats.

Since then, Bansal and Chugh have been constantly interacting with senior leaders and cadre and advising them on the measures to be taken to strengthen the BJP at the polling-booth level.

A decision was also taken to conduct as many 9,000 meetings in villages and highlight the welfare schemes of the Central government and highlight what the BJP thinks are the BRS government’s anti-people and anti-farmer policies.
