Mancherial MLA Prem Sagar Rao

Synopsis: Ahead of Telangana’s speculated Cabinet Expansion, Congress MLA Prem Sagar Rao publicly expressed dissatisfaction during an Ambedkar Jayanti event. His comments, following similar remarks by Munugode MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy, targeted former Minister Jana Reddy’s push for representation. Rao claimed Reddy’s efforts were aimed at delaying his own entry. Cabinet expansion rumors continue to intensify with each political meeting.

Ahead of the speculated Cabinet Expansion in Telangana, a Congress MLA expressed his dissatisfaction publicly. Speaking at a public gathering on Ambedkar Jayanti, Mancherial MLA Prem Sagar Rao aired dirty laundry publicly. Prem Sagar Rao’s remarks come on the heels of Munugode MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy’s comments regarding the same issue publicly on 13 April.

Taking a shot at former Minister Jana Reddy’s bid for representation, he said: “Jana Reddy, a Minister for three decades, is now citing the need for representation for Rangareddy and Hyderabad in the cabinet to delay my entry.”

For a while now, the Cabinet Expansion has remained a speculation, with rumours every so often. Whenever the Chief Minister meets with the Congress High Command or the Governor, it only adds more fuel to the speculation.

‘An Injustice of 76 years’

“Those who came recently from BJP, BRS are today asking for Ministership, just like those who didn’t even move during the Padayatra,” the Mancherial MLA said. “Those who came yesterday and the day before are trying to suppress the voices of Adivasis, Dalits, other minorities, and even me,” he alleged

“Have I not organised good meetings? Are there not people here from all across?” he questioned. He further expressed his disappointment with being over looked. “At stages like Indravelly and Mancherial, people all say the same thing. That the joint district has been treated unfairly for 76 years,” he continued. “I’ll bear it if I am being cheated, but I will not tolerate injustice to my district,” he declared, reaffirming his resolve in front of two ministers.

While Prem Sagar Rao talks about rewarding those who’ve served long and hard, Rajagopal advocates for the newcomers to take charge.

Notably, Revenue Minister Ponguletti Srinivas joined the Congress before the 2023 polls. Similarly, Agriculture Minister Tummula Nageswara Rao also joined the Congress before the polls. They were joined by a third turncoat, with Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao also joining the Congress during the same period.

With only 12 Ministers in the Council of Ministers, this shows that 25 percent of the current Cabinet is made up of people who joined the Congress before the 2023 polls. Interestingly, Rajagopal himself joined the Congress from the BJP before the 2023 polls.

Prem Sagar Rao cautioned this, stating that the Congress might lose Mancherial if things continue as is. “Then, you will know the value of the district,” he said before ending his speech.
