A case has been filed against Telugu film actor Vijay Deverakonda under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act at the XIII Additional Judicial Magistrate Court, Rajendranagar, Ranga Reddy district.
The complaint, submitted by Nenavath Ashok Kumar Naik alias Ashok Rathod, State President of the Joint Action Committee of Tribal Communities, alleges that Deverakonda made derogatory remarks against tribal communities during a public event.
According to the complaint, the actor made the offensive statements on April 26, 2025, while attending the pre-release event of the film Retro, which stars actor Surya.
The complainant, who belongs to the Scheduled Tribe (Rathod) community, claims Deverakonda said that tribals were “beaten 500 years ago” and described them as lacking “intelligence and minimum common sense.”
He further alleges that the actor compared tribals to “Pakistani terrorists.”
These remarks were reportedly broadcast across several media platforms and went viral on social media, sparking outrage among tribal groups.
The complainant has sought legal action under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, asserting that the actor’s comments were deeply hurtful and amounted to racial slander.
