Synopsis: The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has demanded a thorough investigation, urging the Telangana government to examine whether proper safety and medical protocols were in place on the Fauji set.
A suspected insect bite has turned life-threatening for actor Rajesh Sharma on the set of Prabhas’s upcoming film Fauji at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad, leading to hospitalisation.
According to a statement from Sharma’s family, he was interacting with local technicians after the shoot when he felt an insect bite. He did not seek medical attention right away because the discomfort initially seemed minor.
Roughly six hours later, he developed severe pain and swelling in his right leg, yet still boarded a flight back to Kolkata. The family said that he developed high fever while on board. He was admitted to Manipal Hospital in Dhakuria, Kolkata, the following day and remained under close medical supervision.
A day after admission, doctors treating him said the infection had spread rapidly from his toe to his knee, while he continued to battle high fever and breathlessness. Reports suggest it is still too early to make a definitive assessment and that Sharma is not yet out of danger.
AICWA demand investigation
The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has demanded a thorough investigation, urging the Telangana government to examine whether proper safety and medical protocols were in place on the Fauji set.
AICWA appealed to Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to order a high-level probe, questioning why Sharma wasn’t promptly taken to a leading hospital in Hyderabad and whether adequate emergency medical assistance was available on site. The association has also called on the production to bear the full cost of his treatment.
