Death by suicide.

Synopsis: A 28-year-old Chartered Accountant, Suresh Reddy Nirmal, died by suicide in a service apartment in Rajarajeshwari Nagar in Hyderabad. The police said that Suresh used a Helium cylinder to commit suicide by inhaling the gas due to work pressure.

A 28-year-old Chartered Accountant, a native of Kamareddy district in Telangana, died by suicide on Tuesday, 17 June, highlighting yet again the mounting mental health crisis tied to workplace stress. Suresh Reddy Nirmal, employed at JWC in Manikonda, was found dead in a service apartment in Rajarajeshwari Nagar in Hyderabad.

The young professional reportedly used a helium cylinder to take his life and left behind a suicide note describing the immense pressure he faced at work.

His note also revealed his regret over pursuing Chartered Accountancy — an ambition that once drove him, but ultimately became a source of pain.

Regretted pursuing Chartered Accountancy

Speaking to South First, Kondapur Sub-Inspector (SI) Raja Shekar Reddy confirmed that the incident took place on Tuesday night. “He booked a service apartment at SV Serenity apartment in Rajarajeshwari Nagar on the day and penned a suicide note,” they said.

The police added that Suresh used a Helium cylinder to commit suicide by inhaling the gas. “The hotel authorities informed the police of the death on 18 June, and we registered a case,” the police said. Suresh reportedly visited his brother before the incident and left stating that he would meet his sister.

The suicide note reportedly delves into Suresh’s struggles before he died by suicide. It detailed the kind of pressure he faced at work. “He was not interested in working,” the police revealed. His note also explained that Suresh had been experiencing suicidal thoughts for a while now. It added that he was beginning to regret pursuing chartered accountancy.

This comes only a few months after 33-year-old Aman Jain, a techie, died by suicide by jumping from the 32nd floor of his residence. The police had cited workplace issues as the primary contributor to his death.

Similarly, Koti Satyalavanya, an assistant manager at a Hyderabad bank also committed suicide, reportedly due to increasing work pressure. Yet again, the police noted, it was the increasing work pressure that contributed towards Satyalavanya’s death.
