A 1,100-year-old copper plate has been discovered in Suryapet’s Kodad region.

The copper plate had inscriptions in Sanskrit, dating back to 2 September of 921 CE, or Saka 843. Recovered from a Muslim graveyard, it reportedly contains the legend of Tribhubanamkusa.

“It gives the genealogy of the dynasty from Kubja Vishnuvardhana down to Chālukya Ammarāja I. It Records the gift of the village Pōkarāni as a dēvabhōga for conducting worship, providing food offerings, renovations, and navakarma in the temple of Gundēśvarabhattarakāya in the village Kākartī situated in Vēngi-maṇḍala of Koṇḍapalli vishaya by the king,” Dr K Munirathnam, Director of Epigraphy at ASI explained.

“The grant was ordered (ājñapati) by Kadēyarāja (the Superintendent of the royal camp) and engraved by Gandapāchārya,” he added.
