In a move aimed at promoting Ease of Doing Business, the Telangana government has granted exemptions to commercial establishments (excluding shops), allowing employees to work up to 10 hours per day and 48 hours per week, effective from 8 July 2025.
Key safeguards include:
Maximum 10 hours/day, 48 hours/week
Overtime wages for work beyond 48 hours
Mandatory 30-minute break if working over 6 hours
Total workday capped at 12 hours
Maximum 144 hours of overtime per quarter
The government warned that any violation of these norms would result in the revocation of the exemption.
