A 22-year-old youth sleeping on a pavement in Chennai was run over and killed by a luxury car driven by YSRCP MP Beeda Mastan Rao’s daughter Madhuri, on Monday, 17 June night.

The deceased has been identified as Surya, a painter by profession.

“He was sleeping on a pavement in Besant Nagar on Monday night, and a luxury car with a woman behind the wheel ran over him, killing him,” a senior police official told PTI on Tuesday, 18 June.

A case has been registered at Shastri Nagar Police Station in Besant Nagar, however, the accused Madhuri has been granted station bail.

Meanwhile, police laxity is being questioned in this high-profile case, as the accused was released on bail immediately.

According to PTI, the Adyar Traffic Investigation Wing police have registered a case under section 304 A of the IPC (causing death by negligence), a bailable offence, and issued summons to the car owner.
