Vijay government creates 2 temporary IAS cadre posts in CMO, Dr Senthilkumar and Laxmi Priya to take charge

The newly created posts will be equivalent in status and responsibilities to the cadre posts of Chief Secretary and Registrar of Cooperative Societies specified under the IAS (Pay) Rules, 2016.

Synopsis: Dr P Senthilkumar, Additional Chief Secretary in the Health and Family Welfare Department, has been transferred and posted as Additional Chief Secretary/Secretary-I to the Chief Minister. Similarly, G Laxmi Priya, Secretary in the Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Department, has been transferred and posted as Secretary-II to the Chief Minister.

The Tamil Nadu government has issued orders creating two temporary IAS cadre posts in the Chief Minister’s Office for a period of one year.

According to a Government Order issued by the Public (Special A) Department on Sunday, 10 May, a temporary post of Additional Chief Secretary/Secretary-I to the Chief Minister in the Chief Secretary Grade of IAS and a temporary post of Secretary-II to the Chief Minister in the Super Time Scale of IAS have been sanctioned under Rule 4(2) of the IAS (Cadre) Rules, 1954.

As part of the transfers and postings notified in the order, Dr P Senthilkumar, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary to Government, Health and Family Welfare Department, has been transferred and posted as Additional Chief Secretary/Secretary-I to the Chief Minister.

Similarly, G Laxmi Priya, IAS, Secretary to Government, Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Department, has been transferred and posted as Secretary-II to the Chief Minister.

The government has also declared that the newly created posts will be equivalent in status and responsibilities to the cadre posts of Chief Secretary and Registrar of Cooperative Societies specified under the IAS (Pay) Rules, 2016.

Earlier, soon after he was sworn-in as the Chief Minister, C Joseph Vijay reviewed the law and order situation in the state.

During the meeting held at the Secretariat, senior officials from the Home Department briefed the Chief Minister on the current law and order situation across Tamil Nadu and the measures being taken to ensure public safety.
