TVK denies alliance talks with BJP, AIADMK, Sasikala, Ramadoss amid growing speculation

Amid growing speculation in sections of the media and on social media, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) on Monday, 16 March, dismissed reports claiming that it is holding alliance talks with the BJP, AIADMK, VK Sasikala, or PMK founder Dr S. Ramadoss.

In a statement, TVK joint general secretary and headquarters chief spokesperson CTR Nirmal Kumar said that certain “false reports” were being deliberately circulated for political gain.

He said the claims that TVK was in discussions with the BJP, AIADMK, Sasikala, or Ramadoss regarding a possible alliance were “completely baseless and untrue.”

“Let it be stated clearly that no discussions have taken place at any level with the parties and leaders mentioned,” Nirmal Kumar said.

He also noted that similar rumours had been spread in the past linking TVK with other political parties, including the Congress, which had later turned out to be untrue. According to him, such “baseless reports” were being spread by DMK members with the intention of creating confusion among the public and party cadres.

Nirmal Kumar urged responsible media organisations and social media users not to share unverified information without checking the authenticity of the claims.

“Do not believe rumours. Truth will prevail,” he said.

Meanwhile, Election Commission of India (ECI) announced the polling schedule for the upcoming Assembly elections, on Sunday, 15 March. Notably, voting will be conducted in a single phase. For Tamil Nadu, voting will be held on 23 April and the counting will take place on 4 May.

ECI  also released guidelines on the Model Code of Conduct, voter awareness campaigns, and measures to ensure free and fair elections.
