According to a report, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has begun probing the Kavarapettai train accident, investigating the possibility of sabotage. A three-member team, led by a Superintendent of Police, inspected the accident site, focusing on how the express train entered the loop line despite a green signal for the main track. The team questioned railway staff, including the station master, and examined the signals and interlocking system.

Intensive railway recovery efforts

In the aftermath of the accident, more than 500 railway employees, under the direction of the Southern Railway Manager, worked around the clock to clear the wreckage and repair the damaged tracks. Their primary objective was to restore rail services as quickly as possible while ensuring safety. By 9 PM on 12 October, the main line was reopened, enabling the Rajdhani Express to resume operation, albeit at a cautious speed of 10 kilometers per hour.

However, the loop line remains obstructed by the Bhagmati Express engine, which is yet to be fully removed. While express trains are currently running on a single track at reduced speeds, railway officials are optimistic that the engine will be removed by today, allowing normal traffic to resume on both lines.
