TN journalist Nakkheeran Prakash arrested over HIV+ve remark against woman anchor

The complainant alleged that Prakash said she had been infected with HIV.

Chennai police on Wednesday, 16 September, arrested senior journalist Nakkheeran Prakash (Damodharan Prakash), following a complaint alleging that he had posted a defamatory video about a woman.

According to a police media statement, the 38-year-old complainant said she had worked as an anchor with the ‘Savukku Media’ YouTube channel. She alleged that Prakash, 58, had published a video titled “HIV Savukku Marriage Kalyanam”, making defamatory remarks about her and falsely claiming that she was HIV-positive.

She also alleged that the video damaged her reputation and dignity.

Based on her complaint, S-8 Adambakkam Police Station registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Information Technology Act and the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act (TNPHW Act).

Police said they arrested Prakash, and further legal action is underway.
