Synopsis: A 13-year-old girl in Tamil Nadu’s Krishnagiri was allegedly sexually assaulted by three school teachers. The accused teachers, aged 57, 48, and 37, have been arrested and are charged under the POCSO case. Opposition leaders condemned the incident.

In a shocking incident near Tamil Nadu’s Krishnagiri, a 13-year-old girl, studying in the eighth grade at a government school, has been allegedly sexually assaulted by three teachers. The girl’s mother lodged a complaint against the teachers, causing a stir in the area.

The incident came to light when the student had not attended school for the past month, prompting the teachers to investigate. Upon visiting the student’s home, the teachers learned from the girl’s mother that the student had been assaulted by three teachers. The headmaster advised the mother to report the incident to the District Child Protection Officer immediately.

Following the complaint, the student was taken to a government hospital for a medical examination. The District Child Protection Officer filed a complaint at the All Women Police Station, and the police have launched an investigation. The accused teachers, aged 57, 48, and 37, have been charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Villagers protest

The police, under the leadership of the Barkur DSP, are conducting an intensive investigation into the three government school teachers. This incident has caused outrage among the villagers, who have staged a road blockade demanding action against the accused.

This case comes within months of a similar incident at a private school in Bargur, where a student was allegedly sexually harassed during a fake NCC camp.

Opposition criticises DMK government

Opposition leaders have condemned the incident and expressed their shock over the safety of students in schools.

AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi Palaniswamy questioned the state government’s responsibility, saying, “When I pointed out the lack of safety for girls in government schools and colleges, DMK Ministers accused me of causing panic. What will they say now?”

BJP State President K Annamalai also condemned the incident, stating that sexual assault on women and girls had become a horrifying reality in Tamil Nadu.
