The Mayiladuthurai police in Tamil Nadu have arrested four individuals, including two BJP functionaries, for allegedly threatening Masillamani Desiga Gnanasambanda Swamigal, the 27th Guru Maha Sannidham of Dharmapuram Aadheenam.

They allegedly demanded money from him and threatened to release pornographic videos of him should he not comply.

Accused includes BJP leader

The accused individuals include K Agoram, BJP’s OBC Wing Vice-President for Tamil Nadu, who has been named in the First Information Report (FIR) as an accused. The FIR was registered following a complaint filed by the assistant of the Dharmapuram Aadheenam.

This is not the first time K Agoram has faced legal trouble.

In 2019, the 52-year-old senior BJP functionary in Mayiladuthurai was arrested for allegedly threatening a police sub-inspector, K Ramamurthy, during a public meeting. He reportedly has over 20 cases pending against him.

The recent arrest may further complicate matters for Agoram and the BJP in the region.
