Synopsis: Fifteen Tamil Nadu mahouts began training in Thailand to enhance elephant care. The historic Madras High Court building, built in 1892, has been beautifully restored, reviving its architectural heritage. Meanwhile, IIT Madras Pravartak and TCS iON launched a 110-hour online MLOps certification course, starting July 15, 2025, to bridge the gap between machine learning development and deployment.
Fifteen mahouts and cavadies from Mudumalai and Anamalai Tiger Reserves in Tamil Nadu have embarked on their first international trip to the Thai Elephant Conservation Center (TECC) in Lampang, Thailand. The visit aims to exchange knowledge and adopt global best practices in elephant care and management.
This is the second batch, following the first group of 13 who visited TECC in 2023. The initiative, led by the Tamil Nadu Forest Department, seeks to blend traditional tribal expertise with modern techniques to professionalize elephant welfare.
The delegation includes mahouts, cavadies, veterinary experts, forest rangers, and officials.

After years of neglect, the iconic 1892-built Madras High Court, one of India’s oldest, has been meticulously restored.
Extensive renovation cleared makeshift offices and cluttered case bundles, opening up once-congested verandas and corridors. Key entry points like the judges’ and MBA porticos have been refurbished, while hidden stone arches and spiral staircases have been revived.
Sculptors from Kancheepuram restored intricate chisel work, and flower pots replaced old file racks, lending the building renewed elegance. Conducted by the PWD between 2 to 31 May, the restoration offers a dignified, serene atmosphere for both litigants and lawyers.
IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation has partnered with TCS iON, a unit of Tata Consultancy Services, to launch an industry-relevant certification course titled ‘MLOps – Scalable ML Operations – Associate’. The 110-hour online program aims to equip professionals with practical skills in Machine Learning Operations (MLOps), focusing on bridging the gap between ML model development and real-world deployment.
The course, which combines live sessions with experiential learning, starts on 15th July 2025. Registrations are open until 5th July 2025. IITM Pravartak faculty and industry experts will conduct sessions, offering hands-on exposure to MLOps tools, deployment strategies, and best practices. The initiative is part of a broader effort to strengthen India’s AI and ML workforce to meet growing industry demands.
