6 September as Police Day

Tamil Nadu MK Stalin on Monday, 28 April, announced in the State Assembly that every year from now on, 6 September, will be celebrated as Police Day in honour of the service and sacrifices of the police force.

Term ‘Colony’ to be removed from government usage

Chief Minister MK Stalin announced in the Tamil Nadu Assembly that the word “colony” will be removed from government records and official usage, as it has come to symbolise caste-based oppression and untouchability.

He stated that steps will be taken to eliminate the term from public discourse and government offices, in line with the state’s commitment to social justice and equality.

A similar move was earlier implemented by the Kerala government, which also replaced the term in official references to promote dignity and inclusivity.

T Mano Thangaraj as Minister for Milk and Dairy Development

An official commune from the Raj Bhavan on Monday, announced that Padmanabhapuram MLA T Mano Thangaraj has been allocated the the portfolio of Milk and Dairy Development.

The press release read: “On the recommendation of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu the Hon’ble Governor of Tamil Nadu has approved the subject allocation and designation for the newly sworn in Minister as detailed.”
