Tamil Nadu government appoints four IAS officers as departmental spokespersons

The Tamil Nadu government appointed four senior IAS officers as official spokespersons to enhance public communication regarding key policies, schemes, and departmental initiatives.

This move aims to ensure accurate and timely dissemination of government information to the public and foster better coordination among departments.

The spokespersons

The appointed officers and their assigned departments are:

1. Dr J Radhakrishnan – Additional Chief Secretary, Energy Department and Managing Director, TANGEDCO — has been entrusted with the responsibility of Energy, Health and Family Welfare, Transport, Cooperation, Food and Consumer Protection, Welfare of Non-Resident Tamils, School Education, Higher Education, Handlooms, Textiles and Khadi, and Human Resources Management departments.

2. Gagandeep Singh Bedi, IAS – Additional Chief Secretary, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj — has been assigned the responsibility of Municipal Administration and Water Supply, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Animal Husbandry, Dairying, F

isheries and Fishermen Welfare, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Water Resources, Environment, Climate Change and Forests, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Industries, Investment Promotion and Commerce, and Renewable Energy departments.

3. Dheeraj Kumar, IAS– Additional Chief Secretary, Home, Prohibition and Excise — has been appointed as the spokesperson of the Home, Prohibition and Excise Department.

4. S Amudha, IAS – Additional Chief Secretary, Welfare of Differently Abled Persons Department — has been assigned the Welfare of Differently Abled Persons, Social Welfare and Women Empowerment, Labour Welfare and Skill Development, Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare, Backward, Most Backward and Minorities Welfare, Housing and Urban Development, Ports and Harbours, Tourism, Culture and Religious Endowments, and Special Programme Implementation departments.

These spokespersons will serve as the official communicators between the government and the media, ensuring that all information released is accurate and approved by the respective department heads.
