Tamil Nadu: DMK MLA N Pugazhenthi passes away after brief illness

Pugazhenthi had been undergoing treatment at a private hospital for the past few days due to liver damage.

DMK MLA N Pugazhenthi, who represented the Vikravandi constituency, passed away on Saturday, 6 April, after a brief illness. He was 71.

Pugazhenthi was under treatment in Villupuram. He had attended an election rally along with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK president MK Stalin in V Salai village on Friday.

However, he suddenly fainted while on stage. Subsequently, he was admitted to a private hospital at Mundiambakkam.

A kin of the deceased MLA said that Pugazhenthi had been undergoing treatment at a private hospital for the past few days due to liver damage.

Pugazhenthi was elected as the Member of Legislative Assembly in 2021 from the Vikravandi Constituency. A loyalist of Villupuram DMK strongman Ponmudy, he climbed to the top post from grass roots.
