Synopsis: Tamil Nadu Class 12 results for 2025 show a 95.03 percent pass rate, slightly up from 2024. Of 7.92 lakh students, 7.53 lakh passed. Girls outperformed boys with a 96.7 percent pass rate. Differently-abled students had a 93.1 percent pass rate, while private candidates lagged at 32.54 percent. Notably, 2,638 schools, including 436 government ones, achieved 100 percent results.
The Tamil Nadu Directorate of Government Examinations (DGE) on Thursday, 8 May, released the results of the Class 12 (HSE) public examinations.
The southern state has recorded an impressive overall pass percentage of 95.03 percent, which is a marginal improvement over last year’s performance.
In 2024, the pass percentage was 95.56 percent, with 7,60,606 students appearing, and 7,19,196 students passing. The pass percentage was 0.47 percent less than 2025.
A total of 7,92,494 students appeared for the exams held in March 2025. Among them, 4,19,316 were girls and 3,73,178 were boys.
Out of the total students who appeared, 7,53,142 students passed, resulting in a pass percentage of 95.03 percent. 10,049 students were absent for the exams this year.
Among girls, 4,05,472 cleared the exam, registering a pass percentage of 96.70 percent. Among boys, 3,47,670 passed, with a pass percentage of 93.16 percent. Girls have once again outshined boys, with a 3.54 percent higher pass rate.
Performance by schools
The total number of higher secondary schools in Tamil Nadu is 7,513, of these, 2,638 schools recorded 100 percent pass results.
Among government higher secondary schools, 436 achieved 100 percent pass rate.
