Suspected caste killing: Two youngsters allegedly abducted and murdered in Dharmapuri

The victims have been identified as Sunil Kumar alias Thirupati (21), son of Nandakumar, and Murugan(21), son of Rajiv Gandhi Kavitha.

Synopsis: Two 21-year-old youngsters from the Dharmapuri district of Tamil Nadu were allegedly abducted and brutally murdered by unidentified persons. Relatives alleged that the incident was a premeditated caste killing. The deceased youngsters belonged to a Scheduled Caste community.

In a suspected caste killing, two 21-year-old youngsters from Sonnampatti village in Karimangalam taluk of Dharmapuri district of Tamil Nadu were allegedly abducted and brutally murdered by unidentified persons on the night of Tuesday, 25 November.

The victims have been identified as Sunil Kumar alias Thirupati (21), son of Nandakumar, and Murugan(21), son of Rajiv Gandhi Kavitha.

Suspected caste killing

According to reports, the two were travelling towards Palacode when they were chased by unidentified men from the Arathashalli area, forcibly abducted in a car, brutally attacked, and killed.

Their bodies were reportedly dumped in bushes near Chinna Arathashalli along the Palacode road. Relatives alleged that the incident was a premeditated caste killing. The deceased youngsters belonged to a Scheduled Caste community.

Sources claimed that both victims were in a relationship with women from the Vanniyar community in the same locality. Following the incident, family members, local residents, and cadres of the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) have been staging protests, demanding the immediate arrest of those responsible for the murders.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident.

Former Harur MLA and CPI(M) leader P Dillibabu told South First, ” Family members of two youngsters who were killed are alleging that this is a planned caste killing. Police should investigate it from all angles and uncover the truth immediately. Whoever committed this crime should be arrested.”
