Synopsis: Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated three new BJP offices in Tamil Nadu. He claimed that the current government in Tamil Nadu was “anti-national and corrupt” and that the BJP would ensure an end to it. BJP state President K Annamalai slammed Chief Minister MK Stalin for saying Hindi was being imposed on Tamil Nadu and added that the saffron party is committed to Tamil.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah was given an enthusiastic reception on Wednesday, 26 February, by BJP workers who had gathered on both sides of Avinashi Road in Coimbatore, where he arrived for the inauguration of the new BJP office in Peelamedu.
Shah said Southern states will not lose a single seat after delimitation and a fair allocation of central funds will be ensured by the Union government. He was responding to Chief Minister MK Stalin’s recent announcement of an all-party meeting against delimitation based on the 2026 census.
Stalin had said that Tamil Nadu would lose eight seats after population-based delimitation.
Shah claimed that the current government in Tamil Nadu was “anti-national and corrupt” and that the BJP would ensure an end to it.
The event was attended by BJP leaders, including its state President K Annamalai, Union Minister of State L Murugan, Tamilisai Soundararajan and Vanathi Srinivasan.
During the event, Shah claimed that the Assembly election victories in Haryana, Maharashtra and Delhi proved that people were with the BJP and slammed the DMK-led government in Tamil Nadu.
“Law and order in Tamil Nadu has completely deteriorated. Our sisters cannot even travel safely to universities. This is a terrible example of governance. Even 700 days after the crime in Vengaivayal, the accused have not yet been arrested, and the case remains unresolved. Instead of arresting those who brew and sell illicit liquor, students who file complaints about it are being murdered. Anti-national ideologies are now ruling the state,” Shah said.
“Even those responsible for the 1998 Coimbatore bomb blasts are being safeguarded by this government. Drug addiction among students has increased. Mineral resources and sand are being looted with the support of those in power. DMK leaders are experts in corruption, with each leader entangled in some corruption case. Can we forget the 2G scam? The DMK is actively recruiting people notorious for corruption as its members,” he added.
Shah said that it was time to put an end to the “anti-national and corrupt” governance in Tamil Nadu.
“The BJP will create a new dawn for Tamil Nadu. Dynastic politics in Tamil Nadu will come to an end. The corruption in Tamil Nadu will be ended forever. We will also uproot all anti-national ideologies in Tamil Nadu. Tamil Nadu will see not only its development but will pave the way for the entire nation’s development,” he said.
Shah claimed that the Tamil Nadu chief minister and his son were constantly stirring up some issues to prevent truths from coming out.
“Now, CM Stalin is set to discuss the parliamentary constituency delimitation issue with all parties. However, our Prime Minister has already made it clear that the delimitation will be based on proportional representation. He assured that no South Indian state would lose a single seat and that fair allocation would be ensured,” he said.
“Chief Minister Stalin, you are lying to the people. I have the data, and I am speaking based on facts. But you are misleading people with false claims about delimitation. On what basis are you making such statements?” he questioned.
“During the Congress rule from 2004 to 2014, Tamil Nadu received only ₹1,52,900 crore. In contrast, under Modi’s leadership from 2014 to 2024, Tamil Nadu has received over ₹5 lakh crore — several times more than what Congress provided. Yet, Stalin falsely claims that the Modi government has not provided funds. I want to ask you, Stalin — why are you misleading the people?” he further questioned.
He claimed that it was Modi, who had worked the best for the interests of Tamil language, culture and identity, ever since independence. “He ensured that Tamil was given the deserved respect in the Parliament,” Shah said.
“The BJP is set to secure a massive victory in Tamil Nadu in the upcoming elections — an even bigger triumph than in Maharashtra and Haryana!” he added.
Annamalai and Murugan said that Shah is fulfilling his promise of building party offices in every district of the country.
Annamalai claimed that so many stones are being thrown at the party due to its rapid growth. “BJP’s expansion has started taking root in people’s minds,” he said.
“Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi resides in the hearts of all households. Opposition parties claim they cannot reach people because of the BJP, yet none of their schemes resonate with the masses. Modi has worked tirelessly for the welfare of the middle class, even launching affordable pharmacies under the ‘Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Yojana,” Annamalai said.
He claimed that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin refused to permit these pharmacies but introduced his own version, renaming it ‘Muthalamaichar Marundhagam’ (Chief Minister’s Pharmacy).
“If we do something, it’s considered wrong, but when they implement the same idea under a different name, it’s acceptable. Regardless, we are happy if such schemes reach the people. Prime Minister Modi never named schemes after himself. He always introduced them under ‘Bharat Pradhan Mantri’ initiatives. This is the political revolution that Modi has brought to India. Those who named libraries after Kalaignar have now named a pharmacy after the Chief Minister. This shows that we have already won,” Annamalai said.
“No matter what tricks DMK employs in 2026, they will be sent home. When a person has no work, he resorts to anything for attention — Stalin is a prime example. Even in Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal admitted that Modi can only be defeated in another lifetime. Losing power is a hard fall, and the same fate awaits Stalin. Just as Kejriwal has fallen, so will Mamata Banerjee and Stalin in 2026,” he added.
Annamalai said that BJP workers in Tamil Nadu are determined to uproot the DMK in 2026 and alleged that the chief minister has put a deceptive act, claiming that Hindi is being imposed on Tamil Nadu.
“Just two days ago, the third edition of the ‘Kashi Tamil Sangamam’ was successfully held. Wherever he goes — whether Singapore or the US —Prime Minister Modi ensures something is done for the Tamil language. On November 12, 2022, Amit Shah advised Stalin in Chennai to offer medical and technical education in Tamil. So how can they claim he is imposing Hindi?” Annamalai questioned.
“Many brothers and sisters from Tamil Nadu join CRPF and other security forces, and earlier, recruitment exams were available only in English and Hindi. But after Amit Shah took office, exams are now conducted in 13 regional languages, including Tamil. If Hindi were being imposed, would this have been done?
He claimed that the BJP was committed to Tamil and said the language suffered under DMK rule.
“The number of students studying in Tamil medium has drastically declined, with many shifting to English-medium education. Ironically, Hindi is being taught in private schools run by the Chief Minister’s family. When people started noticing this, Stalin diverted attention by raising the issue of delimitation,” he added.
In his welcome address, BJP leader Sakkaravarthi remarked, “We have not seen the Iron Man Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in person, but today we are witnessing another Iron Man here. Today, as we celebrate Maha Shivaratri, we are inaugurating BJP offices in three places, all of which are locations where Lord Shiva is revered. So far, 14 BJP offices have been inaugurated in Tamil Nadu, and today, three more offices are being opened by Amit Shah. We take pride in this moment.”
