The Tamil Nadu Iyal Isai Nataka Mandram has announced the Kalaimamani Awards and the All India Awards.
Synopsis: The Tamil Nadu government announced the Kalaimamani Awards for 2021, 2022, and 2023 and all India awards in the names of Bharathiar, MS Subbulakshmi and Balasaraswati.
The Tamil Nadu government on Wednesday, 24 September, announced the Kalaimamani Awards for 2021, 2022, and 2023 and all India awards in the names of Bharathiar, MS Subbulakshmi and Balasaraswati.
Chief Minister MK Stalin will present the awards to the recipients at a grand function to be held next month at Kalaivanar Arangam in Chennai.
Bharathiar Award (Literature) will be given to Dr N Murugesa Pandian, the MS Subbulakshmi Award (Music) to Padma Bhushan Dr KJ Yesudas and the Balasaraswati Award (Dance) to Padma Shri R Muthukannammal. Each awardee will receive a gold medal weighing three sovereigns along with a cash prize of ₹1,00,000.
On behalf of the state government of Tamil Nadu, the Tamil Nadu Iyal Isai Nataka Mandram confers the Kalaimamani Awards on outstanding artistes across various fields of art. Each Kalaimamani awardee will receive a gold medal weighing three sovereigns along with a citation.
Actor-director SJ Suryah, actor Sai Pallavi, director Lingusamy, and stunt co-ordinator Super Subbarayan are among those who won the Kalaimamani award for the year 2021.
The awardees for the year 2022 are actor Vikram Prabhu, actor Jaya VC Guhanathan, lyricist Vivek, PRO Diamond Babu and still photographer T Lakshmikanthan.
For 2023, the winners include actor K Manikandan, actor George Mariyan, music composer Anirudh, singer Swetha Mohan, dance choreographer Sandy, and PRO Nikil Murugan.
From the field of literature, Poet Nellai Jayantha and Thiru K Thirunavukkarasu are among the awardees. In music, Papanasam Ashok Ramani, Trichy S Narendra (Mridangam), and Thiruvallikeni K Sekar (Tavil) have been chosen. In dance, Priya Karthikeyan and Vazhuvoor S. Pazhaniyappan received the honour.
The Kalaimamani remains the state’s highest recognition for excellence in arts and culture.
