Police found that Veeramani had rented a house in Teynampet where he allegedly assaulted minor girls.
Synopsis: Police issued a Look Out Circular (LOC) against Prakash, the son of a railway trade union office-bearer. The CCB issued a summons to Prakash over alleged financial transactions linked to the Gem Granites case. Police said they issued the LOC after the summons.
The Central Crime Branch (CCB) police on Wednesday, 23 September, conducted searches at five locations in Chennai in connection with the case involving Gem Granites businessman R Veeramani (84), who has been accused of sexually abusing minor girls.
The searches were conducted based on the statement of Ganesan, who was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly possessing a video showing Veeramani in a sexually explicit act involving a minor and failing to inform the police. Ganesan was an associate of Veeramani.
According to the CCB, it searched Prakash’s residence in Perambur, his office in Royapettah, Veeramani’s offices in Gopalapuram, his residence in T. Nagar, and another location. Police seized mobile phones, documents and digital evidence during the searches.
Police said searches at three locations were completed, while searches at the Gopalapuram and T. Nagar premises were ongoing.

The case originated in 2025, when police registered a case after receiving a USB drive containing a video clip that allegedly showed a minor being sexually assaulted at a guest house in Teynampet in 2019.
Investigators initially filed a closure report, citing difficulty in identifying the girl and the man seen in the video. However, the court rejected the report and ordered further investigation.
A special team headed by ACP Rajalakshmi subsequently identified the survivor and established that she was a minor at the time of the alleged offence. Police arrested Veeramani, along with Shanti (60) and Mahendra Simhan (63), in connection with the case on 29 August.
On 17 September, the court granted Veeramani three days of police custody until 20 September. Given his age and health condition, police questioning is being conducted inside Puzhal prison and is being video-recorded.
During the investigation, police reportedly found indications that other minor girls may also have been sexually abused, leading to the identification of the seven additional survivors.
Since one of the identified survivors belongs to a Scheduled Caste community, provisions of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act have also been added to the case.
