Synopsis: PMK founder Dr Ramadoss has accused supporters of his son, Anbumani Ramadoss, of taking control of his social media accounts by changing passwords and recovery details. He also alleged a surveillance device was secretly installed in his room.

PMK founder Dr Ramadoss has submitted a petition to Tamil Nadu DGP Shankar Jiwal, alleging that his official X (formerly Twitter) and Facebook accounts have been taken over by supporters of Anbumani Ramadoss.

In the complaint, he has stated that the passwords of his social media accounts have been changed, and the information required to recover those passwords has been handed over to someone else. He further sought to retrieve social media accounts from Anbumani’s supporters.

It is noteworthy that Ramadoss had earlier claimed that a surveillance device was found in his room, allegedly used to eavesdrop on his conversations.

Speaking to reporters in Virudhachalam, Ramadoss said the equipment, reportedly imported from London, was hidden in his house without his knowledge. “We are investigating who placed it and for what reason,” he added, without naming anyone.

The power tussle

Ramadoss has been locked in an ugly power tussle with his son and party MP Dr Anbumani Ramdoss. Incidentally, Anbumani had studied at the London School of Economics.

Earlier this month, Ramadoss removed Anbumani Ramadoss from the party’s executive committee and announced a restructured leadership team.

The announcement came following a high-level consultation held with newly appointed executive committee members.

In a formal order issued on 6 July, Dr Ramadoss confirmed Anbumani’s removal and unveiled a new list of 21 office-bearers. The revised leadership includes Dr Ramadoss himself, PMK honorary president G.K. Mani, along with senior leaders such as Sivaprakasham, Puda Arulmozhi, Dheeran, Thirukachur Arumugam, A.K. Moorthy, Murali Shankar, and Syed Mansoor Hussain.
