TVK leader Vijay

Synopsis: TVK leader Vijay, in a video message for International Women’s Day, criticized the DMK government for failing to ensure women’s safety in Tamil Nadu. He pledged to bring about change by 2026, assuring women of his support.

TVK leader Vijay, while extending International Women’s Day wishes to all women in Tamil Nadu raised concerns about their safety.

Training guns at the ruling dispensation, he criticized the DMK government, stating that it has failed to ensure protection for women and has misled voters. Emphasizing the need for change, he assured that by 2026, things will improve as they work together for a better future.

In the video message released on his social media platforms, Vijay said, “Today is International Women’s Day, and I cannot let this day pass without extending my wishes to all the mothers, sisters, and friends of Tamil Nadu. My warmest wishes to you all on this special day!”

Speaking about the safety of women in the state, the actor-turned-politician said, “Happiness comes when we feel safe and secure, isn’t it? But when there is no safety and only insecurity, can we truly be happy? I understand this is what many of you are thinking today. Unfortunately, we now only realize that the DMK government, which we all elected together with hope, has let us down.”

Calling for change, Vijay added, “But remember, everything can change. Don’t worry, in 2026, we will stand together and bring about the change and remove the government which has failed to ensure women’s safety. For that let’s take a resolution on this women’s day. Once again, I assure you all, I will always stand firmly as your son, brother, and friend.”

Petition to Governor

Earlier, in December 2024, following the attack on an Anna University student, Vijay had visited the Governor’s office today, 30 December, where he submitted a petition to Governor RN Ravi, outlining pressing issues related to women’s safety.
