NIA chargesheets Tamil Nadu man in ISIS radicalisation, conspiracy case
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet against A. Alfasith of Mayiladuthurai, Tamil Nadu, in a key ISIS-linked radicalisation and conspiracy case. The charges, filed before the NIA Special Court in Poonamallee, invoke Sections 153A and 505 of the IPC, and Sections 13 and 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
According to the NIA, Alfasith maintained close ties with radicalised Islamists and hardcore ISIS supporters like Mohemmed Ashik and Sathik Batcha, who are already under scrutiny in multiple terror-related cases in Tamil Nadu.
Investigators found that Alfasith, along with his associates, was actively circulating ISIS propaganda—videos, images, and documents—through WhatsApp and Telegram groups such as “Islamic State” and “Black Flag Soldiers.” These groups were used to target and radicalise young Muslim men, aiming to spread extremist ideology and disrupt communal harmony.
The NIA further revealed that Alfasith accessed and downloaded incriminating material from an ISIS-run Telegram channel named ‘nashida33’ (also known as Al Wala Val Baro), confirming his alignment with the global terror outfit’s propaganda.
