Ambushed and hacked to death

The attack occurred as Hussain was returning home on his two-wheeler. Four assailants ambushed him near the Town Exhibition Hall, where they fatally assaulted him with machetes.

Following the incident, police officials, including Deputy Commissioner G Geetha, arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation.

Hussain’s family and relatives staged a protest, demanding the arrest of the culprits before shifting his body from the crime scene. After negotiations, the police sent the body to the Tirunelveli Government Medical College Hospital for an autopsy.

To prevent further unrest, security in the area has been heightened. Authorities are actively investigating the case and are working to identify those responsible for this gruesome attack.

Allegations of previous death threats

Szakir Hussain had posted a video on his Facebook page last month stating that he was receiving death threats.

In the video, he claimed that certain individuals were attempting to encroach upon land belonging to the Waqf Board, and he had filed a complaint against them. He further stated that as a result of his complaint, a group was threatening to kill him and was constantly pursuing him.

He specifically accused a person named Thowfeek of attempting to encroach on the mentioned land. He also alleged that the reason he was receiving death threats was due to the involvement of Tirunelveli Town Police Inspector Gopalakrishnan and AC Senthil Kumar.

In the video, he mentioned the names of four individuals: Thowfeek, Gopalakrishnan, Senthil Kumar, and Arunan.
