Fire breaks out at paper warehouse near Tiruppur; goods worth ₹50 lakh gutted
A sudden fire broke out in a paper warehouse at Kizhakku Nallathupalayam near Tiruppur, destroying stock worth an estimated ₹50 lakh, including large quantities of baniyan (vest) tags and paper rolls.
The warehouse, owned by a man named Raja, was reportedly used to store old paper bundles and printed garment tags. According to sources, the fire started suddenly inside the premises, prompting workers to immediately alert the fire and rescue department.
Despite the quick response, the fire spread rapidly, engulfing baniyan tags, paper rolls, and other stored materials, reducing them to ashes. Firefighters rushed to the scene and are engaged in extinguishing the flames.
Preliminary investigation by the police suggests that a group of youths had set fire to garbage in front of the warehouse. Due to strong winds, the flames may have spread and caught on to the highly flammable paper materials stored inside the warehouse, resulting in the blaze.
No injuries have been reported so far, and further investigation is underway to confirm the exact cause of the fire
