An engine fire was reported on an inbound international cargo aircraft at Chennai airport on the morning of Tuesday, 12 August.
The aircraft landed safely, and no injuries were reported, airport authorities confirmed. The flight, operating from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, experienced a fire in its fourth engine during the landing phase.
According to officials, the pilots immediately informed air traffic control, enabling fire and rescue services to be placed on standby.
The aircraft completed its scheduled landing without declaring an emergency. After the plane landed, fire crews quickly put out the fire.
Preliminary reports indicate that no damage was sustained beyond the affected engine. A detailed investigation has been initiated to ascertain the cause of the incident.
