DMK MLA SR RAJA

A day after the Tambaram police registered a case of trespassing and criminal intimidation against the DMK’s Tambaram MLA SR Raja after a video of him threatening and abusing a private-firm employee went viral, there has been no arrest because, as the cops said, the politician is absconding.

The police reportedly booked the MLA on Wednesday, 21 September, acting on a complaint filed by the CEO of the firm Daejung Moparts Pvt Ltd.

Officials told South First that the incident happened around 11 am on Wednesday, when Raja visited the premises on behalf of one RK Sharma, against whom the management had filed a cheating complaint.

However, the official, who spoke anonymously, told South First that the MLA had absconded, and the department officials suspected him of going to Bengaluru.

In the one-minute-29-second video doing the rounds on social media, the MLA was heard threatening and abusing the employee: “Shut your mouth. I will close your company by this evening.”

However, when the employee asked the MLA to respect the voters and threatened to share the video clip with the chief minister, asking how an elected representative could abuse him, the MLA again abused him using sleazy words and threatened physical harm.

The police registered booked the MLA under IPC Sections 294 (punishment for obscene acts or words), 447 (punishment for criminal trespass), and 506 (I) (punishment for criminal intimidation).

Taking to Twitter to condemn the act, Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai tweeted, “In the Dravidian Model Aatchi of @arivalayam, I wonder which is a bigger threat to people – L&O breakdown during DMK rule or L&O breakdown DUE to the DMK rule? (Seen in the video: DMK MLA SR Raja threatening and verbally abusing employees of a factory in Maraimalai Nagar)”.
