Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Wednesday, 26 November, advised Governor RN Ravi to control his arrogance and avoid making needless comments.
Addressing a function at Solaar in Erode, Stalin said the BJP-led Union government was impeding Tamil Nadu’s growth. “They have appointed a Governor only to hinder the state,” he said while inaugurating a slew of completed projects worth ₹605.45 crore and laying foundation stones for 23 projects worth ₹91.9 crore.
He also distributed welfare assistance to 1,84,491 selected beneficiaries.
Stalin alleged that Ravi continued to make needless comments about Tamil Nadu while ignoring issues such as the blast at Red Fort and the Manipur violence.
“Tamil Nadu is peaceful, but he keeps criticising it. He must control his arrogance,” Stalin said.
Responding to the Governor’s recent remarks on English-medium education, Stalin said, “Why does it irritate him if our students study English? He is not here to take classes in Tamil Nadu. We have a PhD in running this state.”
Stalin added that the Governor’s frequent anti-Tamil Nadu statements made the government’s job easier. He also said the BJP and AIADMK’s Edappadi K Palaniswami—“who has lost ten consecutive times”—were stuck in a cycle of defeat.
Reiterating that the DMK government was creating historic progress, Stalin appealed to people to verify their names in the special voter list and support the establishment of Dravidian Model 2.0 in the upcoming elections.
He urged the public to confirm their names in the special intensive voter revision list and support the establishment of the “Dravidian Model 2.0” government in the coming elections.
Stalin said the Dravidian Model government focused on action rather than announcements.
“If I start listing all the schemes implemented by the DMK government, it would take three hours,” he said, adding that continuous implementation of welfare measures had frustrated the Opposition.
Targeting AIADMK general secretary Palaniswami, Stalin accused him of committing “betrayal after betrayal.”
“If we point out his betrayal, he gets angry. If he calls himself a farmer, real farmers feel insulted,” the chief minister said.
Stalin criticised Palaniswami for failing to convey the plight of paddy farmers to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also condemned the BJP-led Union government for rejecting the Coimbatore and Madurai Metro Rail proposals, despite approving metro projects in states with much smaller populations.
Stalin detailed an extensive list of schemes implemented in Erode district over the past four-and-a-half years:
The chief minister also announced new projects:
He said that in 4.5 years, Erode district received:
