Chidambaram leaves Stalin’s residence, DMK-Congress seat-sharing talks to continue
Chidambaram left without interacting with the media. The seat-sharing talks gain importance since the Congress might exit the alliance if DMK refuses to yield even an ounce.

Synopsis: Congress’ State in-charge Girish Chodankar, who hails from Goa had been negotiating with the DMK as head of his party’s seat-sharing committee. However, with talks hitting a roadblock, senior Congress leader P Chidambaram met with DMK chief MK Stalin on Tuesday.
Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram has left the residence of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, where he was closeted in seat-sharing talks with the DMK on Tuesday, 3 March.
In a change of strategy, senior leader from Tamil Nadu P Chidambaran met with DMK leadership, after talks held by Congress state in-charge Girish Chodankar, who hails from Goa, hit a roadblock.
Besides Chidambaram and MK Stalin, Tamil Nadu Congress committee chief Selvaperunthagai and DMK MP Kanimozhi, too, were engaged in the discussion.
While leaving the chief minister’s residence, Chidambaram did not interact with the waiting media.
Selvaperunthagai later told reporters that the talks would continue.
Earlier, it was reported that the DMK would likely offer the Congress party somewhere between 25 and 30 seats in the upcoming elections to the State Assembly and possibly a Rajya Sabha berth.
Kanimozhi had earlier met senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in Delhi. Reports said she had offered 30 seats to Congress during the informal meeting.
Meanwhile, a section of Congress leaders in the state is keen on the Congress having cabinet berths if the DMK-led Front retains power. However, the DMK is not keen on sharing ministerial posts.
