Stalin podcast

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK president MK Stalin questioned the silence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report which, he said, exposed the Union government’s corruption worth ₹7.5 lakh crore.

In the second episode of his podcast series, ‘Speaking for India’, on Saturday, 23 September, Stalin came down heavily on the Union government and urged the people to defeat the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

“I ask Mr Modi, who accuses INDIA of being an alliance of corrupt people —  the CAG report exposes corruption under your rule. Have you read the report? Did you discuss this in the special session (of Parliament)? Did you even answer,” Stalin asked.

“How many people! How many crores! Right from the Ayodhya project to the Ayush Bharat scheme, there have been irregularities to the tune of ₹7.5 lakh crore, according to the CAG report. So far neither the prime minister nor the Union minister concerned has responded to this allegation. They cannot respond, That’s the reason why Modi adopts different political strategies to divert the attention of the people,” he said.

He further stated that when Modi came to power for the first time, he said five Ts — Talent, Trading, Traditional, Tourism, and Technology — were most important to him. Has at least one of these Ts been fulfilled,” Stalin questioned.

Corruption in Swadesh Darshan

Stating that the CAG report has found irregularities to the tune of millions of rupees in implementing the Swadesh Darshan tourism project which covers Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Goa, and Telangana, Stalin said the BJP would not be able to fulfill its promises.

He also alleged that from 2017 to 2021, the BJP was building a fake image through advertisements, and funds for pension schemes were used to promote the party through advertisements.

Lies on UDAN Scheme

“The UDAN scheme was launched in 2016 to enable the poor to travel by air and that airports would be set up in tier-two cities as well. In Tamil Nadu, Salem, Thanjavur, Ramnad, and Vellore were included in the scheme. However, the scheme was introduced only in Salem but that is also not functioning at present,” the DMK leader pointed out.

He also stated that the Union government had allocated ₹1,089 crore for the UDAN scheme. Out of the 774 routes that were planned, only seven percent of the routes were operational and the other 93 percent of routes were not serviced.

Defeat Modi

Modi misled the people by saying that Gujarat had developed and prospered under him when he was the prime ministerial candidate for the first time. He later projected himself as the beacon of development

“Has he made us a developed country? Can he list everything that India has achieved under his leadership in terms of development,” Stalin asked.

Stating that Prime Minister Modi has been working against the poor, the downtrodden, the Backward Classes, the Scheduled castes, and the Scheduled tribes, Stalin said that BJP must be defeated in the 2024 Parliament elections and the people of India must put a full stop to the BJP’s communal, divisive, authoritarian, and corporate-driven politics.
