The Tamil Nadu state unit of the BJP on Friday, 20 January, passed a resolution against Chief Minister MK Stalin and sought his apology for his “disrespectful” remarks against Governor RN Ravi.
VP Duraisamy, the former deputy speaker of the Tamil Nadu Assembly and the vice president of the state BJP, brought the resolution and stated that the party’s executive committee condemns the act of the DMK and its allies in insulting Governor Ravi in the Assembly.
The resolution stated that the incident, which occurred during the Governor’s customary address at the opening session of the House in which the DMK allies, including the Congress, communists, and the VCK, raised slogans against the Governor and staged a walkout, was unpardonable.
The resolution also alleged that the DMK was trying to create panic in the state by using “language politics”.
Further, the executive meeting condemned the DMK government for not arresting former DMK MP RS Bharathi and Sivaji Krishnamoorthy for allegedly humiliating and threatening the Governor.
The executive meeting also passed another resolution seeking to implement the Sethusamuthram shipping canal project without damaging the Ram Sethu.
Two other resolutions were passed congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Earlier in the meeting, it was also decided that BJP state chief Annamalai would start his yatra across the state from Tiruchendur on 14 April.
