Arambakkam: Girl abducted, sexually assaulted; suspect on the run
Last Saturday, a 10-year-old girl was on her way to her grandmother’s house via the Arambakkam railway station. It is reported that a young man, estimated to be around 25 years old, followed the girl along the way, forcibly covered her mouth, and abducted her. He then allegedly took her to a nearby bushy area (referred to as “manthottam”) and sexually harassed her.
Later, the youth is said to have fled the scene. The traumatized girl managed to reach her grandmother’s house nearby and informed them about the incident.
Following this, her family members took her to a hospital and also reported the incident to the Arambakkam Police Station.
Based on the complaint, police officers rushed to the scene and have been analysing CCTV footage from the area. For the past five days, they have been actively searching for the suspect.
The survivor has been undergoing continuous medical treatment for the past five days. Meanwhile, leaked CCTV footage related to the incident has caused a major public uproar.
