Chennai Police have registered another POCSO case against granite businessman Gem Veeramani, taking the total number of cases against him to eight, according to a press release issued on Sunday, October 25.
The case was registered following a complaint filed by a minor girl.
So far, action has been initiated against Veeramani and the other accused based on complaints involving 12 minor girls, police said.
Eight accused have been arrested in connection with the cases so far, police said.
Veeramani, along with his alleged accomplices Shanti and Mahendra Simhan, was arrested by the Anti-Vice Squad of the Chennai Metropolitan Police on August 29, 2026, over allegations of sexually assaulting multiple minor girls.
Ganesh, who allegedly possessed a video related to the case but failed to inform the police, was arrested on September 22 and lodged in Puzhal Central Prison.
Three drivers –Lazar, Parthiban, and Babu– who allegedly brought girls to facilitate Veeramani’s sexual offences, were arrested on October 5. Sakthivel, a manager at CNS, an organisation allegedly linked to Veeramani, was arrested on October 18.
While seven cases were already pending against Veeramani, a fresh case was registered on October 21 following a complaint by a minor girl. Veeramani was formally arrested in connection with the case on the same day. On October 22, Veeramani and Lazar were arrested in connection with another case.
Veeramani, Shanti, Mahendra Simhan, and Ganesh are being questioned by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) at Peravallur police station, as directed by the court, based on evidence seized during the investigation.
Police also questioned Archana, Veeramani’s daughter, about his alleged criminal activities and financial transactions.
Meanwhile, Lookout Circulars (LOCs) have been issued against five individuals suspected of having links to the cases to prevent them from fleeing abroad.
The investigation into the cases against the businessman has been completed, and a final report will be filed before the appropriate court shortly, according to the press release.
