Amit Shah issues warning in Madurai: "Opposing AIADMK alliance is opposing BJP"

Synopsis: Union Home Minister Amit Shah, during a key consultation in Madurai, warned Tamil Nadu BJP leaders that any move against the AIADMK alliance would be treated as defiance of the BJP. After meeting L Murugan and Keshava Vinayagam, Shah summoned Nainar Nagendran and Annamalai for a 30-minute meeting, urging unity and reaffirming support for Nagendran’s leadership

Union Home Minister Amit Shah issued a strong warning to Tamil Nadu BJP leaders during a high-level consultation in Madurai, declaring that any action against the BJP-AIADMK alliance would be considered an act against the party itself.

Shah, who arrived in the city earlier today, began his engagements with a 30-minute closed-door meeting with Union Minister L Murugan. Shortly after, he held a brief discussion with BJP State Organization Secretary Keshava Vinayagam.

Following these talks, Shah summoned Tamil Nadu BJP State President Nainar Nagendran and former state chief K Annamalai to the GRD Hotel, where he was staying. Both leaders, staying at separate locations, rushed to meet him.

Internal resistance against  AIADMK-BJP alliance

In the 30-minute meeting that followed—with Shah, L Murugan, Annamalai, and Nagendran present—the Union Minister is said to have presented evidence pointing to a lack of organisational momentum since Nagendran assumed leadership.

He also expressed concern over internal resistance within the party and highlighted how certain BJP members have been working against the AIADMK-BJP alliance.

Sources say Shah emphasized that “acting against the AIADMK alliance is equivalent to acting against the BJP,” and reiterated the party’s unwavering support for Nainar Nagendran as state president.

He reportedly instructed all factions to fall in line and cooperate fully with Nagendran’s leadership ahead of the upcoming elections.

Party insiders indicate Shah also issued a clear warning: any further attempts to sabotage the alliance or undermine the state leadership would invite severe consequences.

Following the crucial meeting, Shah visited the historic Meenakshi Amman Temple before departing the city.
