A wild elephant killed an 84-year-old man in the Nilgiris on Friday, 24 May, police said. The incident occurred near Gudalur in the district early Friday. Palani was attacked when he ventured outside his house. The elephant also damaged two cars in the vicinity, they added. On Tuesday, a rogue elephant had killed a farmer in Erode district.
