Why Kerala govt is blaming Railways over sanitation worker death

The body of a sanitation worker, Joy, was recovered from the canal after a 46-hour-long search. He was cleaning the Amayizhanchan Thodu.

Kerala sanitation worker's death

Kerala Minister V Shivankutty on 15 July wrote to the Union Railway Minister seeking compensation for the family of Joy, who died while cleaning a canal in Thiruvananthapuram. The minister alleged that Joy lost his life because of the lackadaisical attitude of the Railways. According to him, even after repeated requests the Railways did not clean the canal.
