The recent suicide of a weaver in Sircilla brought to the fore the community’s alleged lack of work and adequate income. While it is claimed that 10 weavers ended their lives this year, the government has pegged the number at six, even as the BRS attacked the Congress over it. BRS leader KTR accused the government of being responsible for the suicides.
