The ship, with a capacity of 8,000 to 9,000 TEUs, which set sail from Xiamen Port in China, will unload 2,000 containers at Vizhinjam.

Vizhinjam Port’s trial operation, a milestone for Kerala, begins on July 12 with the arrival of a container ship from China, announced Port Minister VN Vasavan in Thiruvananthapuram on 9 July. The port, featuring advanced automation and IT systems, aims to be India’s first semi-automated port and is slated for full commissioning by September/October 2024.
