University of Hyderabad suspends 5 students for protesting

The students were suspended for protesting to conduct the 'Sukoon' festival in May.

Students protest against the suspensions

University of Hyderabad has suspended five students including student union leader Atiq Ahmed for six months and levied a fine of ₹10,000 on five SFI members in response to the protests organised by students to conduct the “Sukoon” festival in May 2024. Responding to the suspensions, the students’ union called for a protest inside the campus on Monday, 24 June.
