Udupi to ration water, after Mangaluru, in coastal Karnataka

Commissioner of Udupi City Municipal Corporation said rationing will continue till the water in the reservoir reaches comfortable levels.

After Mangaluru, Udupi is the second city on the Karnataka coast to ration water. Commissioner of Udupi City Municipal Corporation Rayappa said on Tuesday, 7 May the rationing system will begin from Wednesday. The dam across Swarna at Baje, Udupi’s lone water source, has 3.25 metres of water against the top level of 6.30 metres. The rationing will be periodically reviewed.
